The Fukiage area accommodates the Imperial residence, where Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko live, and the Fukiage Omiya Palace, which was once the home of the late Emperor Hirohiro and Empress Nagako, known posthumously in Japan as Emperor Showa and Empress Kojun.
